NME Photo Awards 2013

Becky Nallon, September 2013

I was very excited to see this years NME Photo Awards and that I could enter into the Under 18's category for music photography. I am excited just to see my music photographs on the NME Website!

If you'd like to vote for me, which I hope you would, the link will be at the bottom of this article.

The 5 photos I have chosen are on my website already, but some of my favourites I have taken at any gigs I have been at. One of Newton Faulkner live in Marlbrough, one of Sam Brookes supporting Newton in the Islington Assembly Halls supporting Newton, one of Luke Ward from Boot Led Zeppelin at their biggest gig of the (British) sumer at the Silverstone Classic, one of James Morrison's adoring crowd at Alive at Delapre and last, but by no means least, Will Stapleton of Henry Parker and the Velvet Loons when they were live in Reading.

These photos I feel like are some of the strongest I have taken gig wise. Capturing the moment and the feeling in a photo especially of a performer is one of my favourite things to do. Especially when I am given a "first three songs no flash" rule. It gives me a massive adrenaline rush in taking photos of a performer who is giving their all in a performance. It really will show through if a performer loves their job - and I think that these do this.

Please vote for "Becky Nallon" in the Under 18's category - and help me meet the people I want to become in my future!

Starting Photography at College
Becky Nallon September 2013

I am very excited to say that I am off on a new adventure and starting a new part of my life going to college to start a B-Tech in photography. This does mean that I will have to start using a film camera - scary, but exciting as it is my Dad's very own Olympus O10 from his 21st birthday present. I am so honoured to be using it as it has come with a lot of lenses, beautiful flash - but I'm going to have to wait for the results!

Starting photography has been scary, but an amazing new chapter in my life. I want to do this seriously, so having this is the correct stepping stone I need.

Thank you for all of your support and love over the last few months. It will be exciting as I have a few, new projects coming up!

New for 2014!

Becky Nallon, December 2013

So, I have decided that for 2014 I will be offering a new tool into Becky Nallon Photography by the means of photo booths. This Christmas time, I set up a photo booth for St Laurence's Young People's Christmas Party, (photos can be viewed in Portfolio > Photo Booth) in these photos, you will be able to see some beautifully worn card beards, made by myself for the party specifically. I am happy to say, if I am asked to do a photo booth, card props can be made for your event.

Hopefully, Becky Nallon Photography will grow from strength to strength next year as it has been from month to month this year. I would just like to thank eveybody that has been so supportive of me and given me so many opportunities to be creative and open with ideas.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Becky x

Hello and Welcome to 2014!

Becky Nallon, February 2013... Wait I mean 2014

Ahh, well, it may only be the 7th February but it has already been a busy start to 2014 for me. If being thrown back into college wasn't enough, I've also had quite a few gigs to kick off the year and a new logo designed! Thank you to Adam Lloyd for that, if you're up in Birmingham, he's a really good portrait photographer too.

Speaking of Graphic Designers, I am working with another one!
Ryan Wilson and I have started a Red Bubble page. He is based, again, in Birmingham and really talented! So he and I are teaming up to combine his gorgeous typography and my photos, so they can be purchased as posters, phone cases and prints! Here is the link to that page for future reference and to check out the photos that are there already! - http://www.redbubble.com/people/gigsandpictures

Boot Led Zeppelin started off the year with a big show. We drove to Hornchurch in Essex to set fire to things and explode some pyros. I have been asked to assist with the costumes for the band, so not am I just photographing the gig, I am sorting out the new costume changes! Which worked really well and looked great! Gigs with them are filling out the year nicely with them and I love working with them, so I'm looking forward to it.

I have also been working closely with Martin's Lights and have been comissioned to work with him on the Newton Faulkner Studio Zoo Tour, which is very, very exciting for me! I am a huge Newton fan, so working with him and photographing him is a dream come true for me - so thank you to Martin for the opportunity again.

I have also been at the rehearsals that Newton has had for the tour, so lots of photos to check out in the gig page! Click here to view the photos of Newton and all of my other gigs.

Also, don't forget that I have a Facebook page, a Tumblr account and an Instagram account which I am pretty good at updating, so go and follow and like the appropriate websites! Just click and it'll take you there!

Things are still busy here...

Becky Nallon, March 2014

What can I say! Becky Nallon Photography has been very busy recently

I have been very lucky to discover I was the winner of the competition held by International Light Painting Award winning photographer Mark O'Neill. Using the same methods of long exposure photographs, we had to use light sources to create a portrait image. I, leaving it to pretty much the last minute, made it a self portrait which turned out a lot better than anticipated! I will leave a version of it in the side along with some of the other work I've done recently.

The last few weeks have been ones full of experience for me. I was lucky enough to spend a good few days with Newton Faulkner and his crew curtesy of Martin Dudley of Martin's Lights. He was kind enough to have me as his photographer for Newton's big gig at The Camden Roundhouse then I stayed on with the crew to then photograph G Live, in Guilford and Exeter University's Great Hall.
I have never been so scared photographing a gig before, but this was the biggest gig I have done to date. I think, my photos speak for how incredible the gig was for everyone involved. Newton looked and sounded incredible and I am pleased with the outcome of my photographs. Go and check out Martin's work at http://martinslights.com/ and https://www.facebook.com/pages/Martins-Lights-Limited

Sam Brookes went straight to headlining his own tour after a very successful time with Newton Faulkner. I had the pleaure of photographing his album launch gig at St Pancras Old Church in London and you can go and see the photos of that inrcedible gig here.

Lots of things with Boot Led Zeppelin lined up over the next few months and some private events too which I am very much looking forward to photographing!

Don't forget to keep up to date with me in other ways, Facebook, Instagram and Tumblr - they usually get all the back stage pictures uploaded to them pretty instantly, so follow me there!

Birthday Parties, Gigs and my first year at Reading College!

Becky Nallon, June 2014

Since I last wrote anything in the news section of Becky Nallon Photography lots of things have been happening, in all different areas.

I had a private birthday party that I got to photograph and I have to say it was a lot less nerve wracking than I thought it would be. The family were absolutely lovely to work with and kind to me which was great - more clients like them please!

Gigs wise I've been pretty busy with Boot Led Zeppelin keeping them and their costumes in check. In April, the boys and I did a promotional photoshoot together which was the first time I had done anything on that scale all by myself which was daunting, but, they were superb and very patient with me, which was so kind of them. The photos turned out really quite well considering that I was in a slightly difficult set up comapred to what I'm used to at college, but I am really pleased that I found out that I can do a studio shoot on my own.

Fyfe Dangerfield was another amazingly talented musician I can add to my list. The absolutely brilliant singer songwriter performed at Martin's Lights 20th Anniversary party and I got to be there to A- Celebrate with the amazing Martin and B - hear Fyfe's fabulous voice and take photos of his face which can be found here.

My photos of tribute acts don't seem to be dying down any time soon, Kings Ov Leon were at Fox Fest the other week just ahead of Boot Led Zeppelin on the bill, and they were fab. I'll have some photos of them on my Facebook Page soon enough I am sure.
Reading College's Music Media department had me back to photograph their second year's final gig and I must say that the talent in that year was amazing too. The photos were shared to the Reading College Music Media Facebook page

I can't quite believe that my first year at Reading College is coming to an end, in fact, I have two pieces of work to submit and then I am finished with first year!
Looking round and the Second Year's work I was absolutely amazed by the standard and quality of work that these photographers had produced. Their pieces were absolutely outstanding and I can't quite believe that it'll be me displaying my work at college next year.
Speaking of exhibitions, if you are in the Reading area on Thursday 26th June then please do come to my year's display in St Laurence Church, Reading and see the photographs I've produced this year.

For more information, please add yourself to the Facebook event here. I would love to see some friends of Becky Nallon Photography there as your support really is what keeps me going!
